Meat Market!

Last night, while opening a package of ground beef I saw the sticker of origin. 

USA, Mexico and Canada. 

3 countries were all included in this 1 pound package of meat!  GROSS!! 

I consider myself a pretty educated girl when it comes to food.  I've seen all of the food documentaries and I agree that buying local and knowing where your food comes from is important.  Unfortunately, sometimes cost and convienience keep me from doing so.  This sticker reminded me to pay attention to what I am feeding my family!!

Today Carl and I went to the meat market together.  Claus' German Meats, that is.  This place is awesome!  It is just south of Fountain Square on Shelby Street.  You can find their website here:  http://www.clausgermansausageandmeats.com/

I highly recommend this place!!  All of their meat comes from INDIANA!  without preservatives or fillers (like ammonia and chlorine)!!  and less nitrates in the lunchmeat!
To make it even better, their prices are comparable if not cheaper than the grocery store and it is family owned and operated.  Take cash, they don't take checks or credit cards.

Take a cooler with you and stock up the deep freezer.  A trip to this place is worth your health and pocketbook.
